Amateur Boxing Instructor
I began as a kickboxer in 1986. When I went to New Brunswick in 1989 to work as a sign language interpreter, there was no kickboxing gym in Frederiction so I found a Boxing gym and joined. 2 years later, in 1991, I won the World's first ever, sanctioned Amateur Womens' boxing match in Sydney NS. I returned to Edmonton and continued to compete for the ensuing 5 years. I fought 21 times and never lost. Despite this, I've never considered myself a great boxer. In fact, over the years, I've learned that I am a far better coach. I love that boxing is technical and psychological. The mind, the body and spirit have to come together to make a champion.
